FLIGHTMOOD
On the 9th of January 2017, a passenger with the initials AR boarded flight JT745 from Makassar to Bali with Lion Air. AR was seated at the back of the aircraft in seat 34D.

During a press conference attended by AR’s lawyers, she had mentioned that a flight attendant had asked her to move to the front of the cabin because the pilot knew AR.  “I was moved to the front of the aircraft, and once we were airborne, the flight attendant asked if I wanted tea or coffee.” She opted for a tea and was then asked by the flight attendant if she smokes

The flight attendant had told AR “ in the cockpit its okay to smoke, come on lets have a cigarette in the cockpit while we relax and have a chat.” The situation got even stranger when AR took the cabin crews offer, and headed into the flight deck.  As she entered the cockpit AR saw three cigarette butts in an ashtray.

The flight attendant previously said the captain knew AR, but it turns out that was false. “I told the captain, I don’t know you at all. The captain and co pilot just laughed and said it’s a guy thing.” The flight attendant, pilot and co-pilot then lit their cigarettes and astonishingly, offered AR an alcoholic beverage which she refused to have. With thirty minutes left in the flight, AR returned back to her seat. When she arrived at Bali’s, Ngruah Rai International Airport, she immediately reported the incident to local airport authorities.

Public relations manger of Lion Air, Andy Saladin, confirmed that they are dealing with the allegations. He stated to the Bali Tribune “We are currently deepening an internal investigation with the Ministry of Transportation. We are awaiting the result of the investigation from the ministry,”
